Volkswagen Group Posts Record Profit of €11.5 Billion in 2012

Volkswagen Group’s sales revenue increased by 20.9% to €192.7 billion ($252 billion) in fiscal year 2012 a sizable gain from €159.3 billion in 2011. Operating profit rose to a record €11.5 billion, but this was only a slight increase from €11.3 billion the year before. Continue reading

Porsche Sales Rise 18% in February Led by 31% U.S. Gain

Porsche sold 10,454 sold new vehicles in February 2013, an increase of 18.2% in comparison to the same month last year. The Porsche model most in demand worldwide was the Cayenne SUV once again at 5,637. Almost 2,000 911 models were sold.The former sports car maker, now luxury vehicle manufacturer fully owned by the Volkswagen Group, saw particularly strong sales in the U.S. at 3,225, a 31% increase in its largest market. Year-to-date Porsche sales at 22,515 are up 22% globally. VW Group is closing in on GM as the world’s second largest automaker and wants to be Number One in global auto sales by 2018. Porsche Sales up 16% in July. Boxster and 911 Strong

Porsche increased sales in July by 16% helped by strong sales of the Boxster and 911. The automaker sold 12,391 cars and trucks during the month. Led by sales of the Panamera sedan and Cayenne sport utility vehicle, Porsche has sold 81,562 vehicles (+14 %) in the first seven months of 2012. Continue reading

Porsche Leipzig plant builds 500,000th Vehicle

Earlier this year, Porsche marked the tenth anniversary of what was at the time a controversial expansion into the truck market. However, after the Porsche factory opened in Leipzig during 2002 to build the Cayenne SUV it proved to be a successful investment that has since grown to produce another controversial – but just as profitable vehicle – the Panamera sedan.
