Volvo Announces Swedish Vacation Sweepstakes

Volvo's Overseas Delivery Program provides two complimentary airline tickets to pick up a new car in Sweden. When they're ready to return home, Volvo ships it to the United States for free.

Volvo Cars of North America’s (VCNA) today announced the third annual edition of a Swedish vacation contest that is designed to promote Volvo’s overseas delivery program. Along with VisitSweden, Tourism in Skåne and the West Swedish Tourist Board, a contest is being run whereby two people can win a one week vacation in West Sweden and Skåne.

“Volvo was born in West Sweden, and we are still firmly rooted in the city of Gothenburg, where most of our cars are still manufactured,” said Anders Robertson, manager of VCNA’s Overseas Delivery.

“Through the campaign, we give potential customers a chance to experience the place and culture where their car comes from.”

From April 1 through July 1, people are encouraged to visit the website and register for the sweepstakes. There, entrants can use the site’s trip planner to create their dream itinerary and explore all that West Sweden and Skåne have to offer. By submitting an itinerary, visitors are automatically entered into the sweepstakes. The winner will receive a one-week trip of a lifetime for two to West Sweden, complete with free airfare provided by SAS Scandinavian Airlines, accommodations, meals, activities, and the use of a Volvo car.

Volvo of course is now owned by the Chinese, who are in the process of setting up production there. The Zhejiang Geely is headquartered in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, and operates six car assembly and powertrain manufacturing plants in China, located in Lanzhou (Gansu province), Linhai (Zhejiang province), Luqiao (Zhejiang province), Ningbo (Zhejiang province), Shanghai and Xiangtan (Hunan province). This leaves open the possibility that future overseas delivery trips could be to China…
